Sometimes you check all the boxes along your health and wellness journey, and still can’t seem to tap into the magic ‘thing’ that everyone swears will happen when you eat well and exercise regularly. Sometimes it’s more than just the food you eat or the daily trips to the gym or studio. Sometimes the journey to optimum wellness requires that you stop, take stock and regroup.

HOW HAS YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE AFFECTED YOUR NUTRITIONAL AND SELF CARE CHOICES?
Because I have odd work hours taking care of my health is important, and previously I did a fairly good job most of the time. But because my work schedule is so odd, I’d allow myself to eat junk food, even though it was bad for my health. Then I’d go to the gym and do en excessive cardio workout to try and burn it off. I knew there was a better way, but I wasn’t sure exactly what it was.

WHAT EVENT INSPIRED YOUR CHOICE TO CHANGE?
Honestly one day the taste of frozen food hit me, and it was just gross. I knew that I’d had enough. WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE EXTERNALLY TO BECOME HEALTHIER?
Now, I feel like I’ve become a food snob when it comes to what and where I eat. Unless I know that my food has been cooked in vegan kitchen I will not eat it. My husband and I were out recently and I was starving, but the immediate available food options were displeasing to me. I told him I’ll wait until I get home. Before the NOURISH program, I would have been chowing down.
HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR CHOICES HELPING TO SHAPE YOUR FUTURE?
Now that I know what I know, I can never go back. I must do better, I have to always challenge myself. Now I thirst for more knowledge about plant-based foods to help make my body stronger and healthier.
