Post Thanksgiving Detox

So you ate and drank all the things. Maybe you’re done. Maybe there are three days worth of leftovers (and a whole bunch of saved YouTube videos on what to do with them). Maybe you’re full. Maybe you’re full of regret. No matter what, there is a way to get back on track. All you have to do is start.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a tried and true ingredient to help reset the digestive process. Never take it straight (it can burn your esophagus and wreak havoc on your stomach lining), but mixed with enough water and a hint of sweetener (helps conduct it faster) it can do wonders. Here’s our tried and true recipe:

Drink it down the morning that you decide to start your road to recovery (and continue to drink it on the mornings follwoing). You’ll trigger healthy digestion, it’ll help you feel full, and with any luck… give you the energy you need to get on with the task of getting back on track. Throughout the day (and the rest of the week if needed) follow up with some dark leafy greens in some form. Prepare them in a HEALTHY way, lest you run the risk of undoing your good work. Steam your greens like spinach or kale or cabbage (cook those longer to make them easier to digest)… and consider getting fancy with broccoli leaves or beet and turnip greens. Load up salads or choice dishes with cilantro and parsley; both boost liver function to help with your body’s natural detoxification process. Swap out sweet juices for lemon water, or plain water. Make friends with herbal tea. Hydrate more than you think you need… to help your body flush and reset.

Most importantly, forgive yourself. You didn’t do anything wrong. You indulged, and that’s fine. Now commit to doing the work to get back on track to live your happiest, healthiest existence. You got this.
